YSl & Mercier

YSL Ombre Solo Lasting Radiance Eyeshadow (02 Cashmere Brown)

I’m obsessed with this shadow from YSL.  My 2nd Mercier eye caviar stick in gray pearl – my go-to neutral just ran out and I decided to look for a new neutral.  My friend Carmen, at Private Edition, introduced me to this shadow from YSL and it’s the most gorgeous/perfect/base/topper/everything shade either layered or worn alone.  The texture is silky smooth and can be worn sheer or built up for more color.  I have been putting it on top of my other Mercier eye caviar stick (khaki) and loving the shimmery gray/beige natural but defined look they create together.

Speaking of Mercier… I just used a deluxe sample of her Radiance foundation primer and I’m amazed at how gorgeous it made my admittedly not so gorgeous skin look almost instantly.  I feel like I’ve tried this primer before and not been so wild about but, things have changed!! I started with my La Mer soft cream, layered on Mercier’s primer, and then used the tiniest drop of my La Mer foundation and the result lasted all day.  It’s a light pearly tinted primer that camouflages fine lines and covers redness and broken capillaries unbelievably well.  It really did give me a pretty glow all day and I didn’t look the least bit shiny even after 8 hours.   Seriously.

In Heavy Rotation

My Gucci Soho messenger.  There aren’t words for how much I love this practical yet super chic, buttery soft bag that can be worn classically over the shoulder or cross-body – either way it’s super comfy and hangs just beautifully.  Gucci’s pebbled leather bags are so durable and I love the throwback raised double GG logo and the fun little tassel on the zipper.  2 inside pockets and minimal hardware make this perfect for a working Mom on the go.  God, “working mom” – it’s official, I’m old.

I’m a plaid shirt addict.  When it comes to shirts, I’m kind of like a man in that I like a great t-shirt in black, white or gray or a button down shirt with jeans (though I pair mine with heels to go out, flats for work or casual).  You guys know my t-shirt staples.  My long time favorite flannel is from a local store called Imogene + Willie that gets major hype/press in all the major fashion mags.  I’m proud to say Nashville is its home.  I can’t wait to see what flannels in their fab Japanese cotton they have in store for this season.  Another favorite is Rails – gauzy, flimsy yet durable and the drape is spot on.

My other uniform is a tank with a blazer or leather jacket on top (or the flannel) – the tank (though the under layer) is key to the whole look especially since I still have a slight post baby bulge.  Currently, I’m obsessed with these rib tanks from Enza Costa.  The material is gorgeous – fluid like silk drapey ribbed goodness – semi sheer but super flattering.

One of the items on my must have list for Fall/Winter was a chunky fisherman knit sweater in a cream based color.  This is tough for me because I’m hot natured and I will sweat like a stuffed pig in most sweaters even on the coldest day.  I scored the most perfect one at my favorite store in Nashville (H. Audrey) earlier this week.  It’s comparable to this look from the same brand (Inhabit) and I’m dying for it to be cool enough to wear it.  Mine is a cotton/linen mix which is ideal for our usually mild winters in the south.

Speaking of H. Audrey, another major purchase was this Beck Sondergaard skull scarf.  It’s huge, the most ideal weight for all seasons and despite being patterned it matches everything I own.  Of course, one of my fav L.A. stores carries it too!  I bought this guy over a month ago and have already worn it multiple times.

For shoes I rely on my Rag & Bone booties and my black or nude Jimmy Choo crocodile pumps.

& that is my Fall fashion edit.

Bobbi Lip Glosses

Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss

I’ve long been a fan of Bobbi’s glosses (and I’ve definitely mentioned them before) because they wear so well and are so moisturizing – plus, they’re all pretty sheer.  Bobbi’s philosophy has long been to enhance natural beauty not to cover it up – her glosses go right along with this… shades that look shocking in the bottle typically go on beautifully and look quite natural.

I snapped up “nude” which has a hint of plum and “bright pink” which is an earthy, natural pink shade.
These glosses used to be tee-tiny so I was glad when they finally bumped up the tube size.  They last forever and the tiniest drop adds immediate moisture and long lasting shine.  Soothing botanical extracts like avocado, jojoba oil, and chamomile oil keep your lips feeling soft and smooth for hours.  At $24 a gloss – there’s much to love about these guys!!!

Falling for Fall (via Diptyque)

I’m craving Fall in a big way this year… I celebrated the first day of Fall (a crisp and sunny 75 degree day in Nashville) by hitting the Diptyque counter at Nordstrom and snapping up 2 candles and a new perfume!  The candles I chose were “Noisetier” (aka Hazelnut) and “Pomander” (aka orange clove) – such a nice autumn combo burning together or separately.

Let me just reiterate that Diptyque candles, while definitely the most pricey, are truly the best for multiple reasons.  One, they actually omit quite a lovely scent while not burning.  Two, they really do burn for the amount of time they claim (i.e. 60 hours) – that’s if you people know to trim your wicks (a must!) and Three, their fragrances are just amazing and powerful yet not in an over powering way!

The perfume I picked is “Eau Duelle” – this is a vanilla based musky scent with a hint of black frankincense.  It smells warm and cozy to me.  My accompanying bestie thought it smelled like “tobacco in a musky bar in London” -- we both loved it!  I bought the perfume solid to travel with & the actual bottle to keep at home.  I cannot stop smelling my wrists!  I haven’t bought myself a perfume in a long time and I forgot what a nice pick me up it is.

Then I bought 2 dozen miniature white pumpkins and filled a bowl on my dining room table with them!  Is it Halloween yet?  Haha.

I bought a few products this weekend too – look for posts later this week!
