Spring Fever

Having been pregnant and/or on maternity leave (all yoga clothing) for the last oh, we’ll say, a year + of my life… I was super anxious to start building my post baby spring wardrobe!  Here are a couple of my favorite purchases thus far.  It’s 70 degrees in Nashville one day and 30 degrees and snowing the next so, I’ve been living in my gray Rag & Bone Newbury boots from fall/winter paired with jeans, assorted tanks, and blazers with scarves on top for my nights out (think dinner w/ an infant in a carrier in tow and in bed by 9:30 pm).

I’m all about a colored skinny jean.  I’m not confident enough yet to rock white skinnies post baby but, pale pink, is surprisingly flattering & fun!  So chic w/ a black top and black pumps!  Though I’m dying to do the look with one of my new sandals. Pedro Garcia shoes are unbelievably comfortable and I love the exposed cork platform and the ankle strap on the pair I got.  The DV sandals are so cute, super wearable and such an affordable price!  Who could resist?  Plus, they come in so many fun colors.  I love the bright coral, though I was lame and got the nude, because I felt like it might be more office appropriate.

The Marant tank may seem blah online but in person, it’s perfection.  The first time I wore it my husband and my BFF’s husband commented on how “cool” it was – boys commenting on a tank top, enough said!  The linen slub fabric is ultra comfy and ultra flattering and the tank is just so cool dressed up or down. I’m also a big fan of Rag & Bone tees and tanks.  They’re made so well, are super soft and hold up so well in the wash.  How cute is this motorcycle pattern??

The Helmut Lang blazer is one of those pieces I’ll wear and treasure for years.  Gorg.  The gray is timeless and works for all seasons.

What are you lusting after this season??

Tom Ford

Tom Ford Lip Color Shine  -- Insidious

If you look up the definition of Insidious, you’ll find this: “Proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects.”  The only thing potentially harmful about this lip shine is the price tag.  $48 for a lipstick is a lot  no matter what walk of life you’re from… but, true to the dictionary definition, this gloss/stick hybrid is a beautiful but subtle natural coral that is totally wearable, super flattering and absolutely perfect for Spring.  At first you think it’s pretty and then it gradually grows on you until you end up obsessed, like I did.  It feels like a balm and the color is nice and light with just a hint of sparkle - really added a nice pop of color to my pale skin.  The formula is extremely moisturizing, wears very well for a gloss, and makes your lips look luminous and conditioned thanks to ingredients like chamomilla flower oil and sojo seed.

Next on my want list by Mr. Ford:

Too bad this guy will set you back about 4k. TGIF!!!

La Mer Eye Serum

La Mer The  Eye Concentrate

If anything has been my saving grace lately, it’s without a doubt this La Mer eye serum.  I buy eye creams/serums but until I became a mom, I didn’t stick to a religious routine of use with any of them.  I am new to sleep deprivation and my under eyes are what’s giving my current state of exhaustion away.

I’m puffy, purple, and I swear my fine lines have multiplied ten times over.  I started using this serum day and night about 6 weeks ago and the results are amazing.  It’s tough to spend this kind of money on an eye cream but an ounce will truly last you forever as I’m still on a sample from 6 weeks ago.  I guess this will be my Mother’s Day gift to myself?  I don’t think I can go without it ever again.  The delicate skin around my eyes is refreshed, renewed, and hydrated and my lines are SO much less obvious.

I’m really impressed how de-puffed I am after continuous use + putting this serum on when I apply my day cream/hbefore my makeup has made my foundation/highlighter/shadow around the eye area look really flawless and smooth.  A bold statement coming from someone who gets only 5 hours of interrupted sleep per night.
