Eye Am Obsessed

Cle de Peau Silky Shadow in Bordeaux Amethyst (#116) – Limited Edition

I must give credit when credit is due – it was Emily Weiss of www.intothegloss.com that sparked my interest in this product.  Reading her vivid description of her encounter with this shadow backstage at the Rochas show in Paris during fashion week way back in March then, seeing it on a model on her site left me furiously flipping through my contacts to call the Cle de Peau counter here in Nashville! I’m a sucker for the old school application of shadow that is a semi sheer wash of color you lightly blend over the entire lid.  Seeing as how I’m without bottom liner or shadow about as much as Gwen Stefani is without a scarlet lip – I always use the sponge applicator or a stiff brush to dust a bit of shadow on my lower lid under the lashes as well.  This shadow is one of few that still looks neutral and modern when applied in that fashion.

The violet color of this shadow is so beautiful and has the most perfect hint of shimmer.  It takes all of about 5 seconds to apply and it truly is all you need.  It’s a limited edition and I think I’m about to order several more because I have a feeling it’s going to fly off the shelves.  I do recommend using an eye base to keep the color from creasing.  A tiny little bit looks soft and ethereal while a more heavy handed application gives you that sort of heroin chic/punk/edgy look.  I love both!  The models at Rochas went sans mascara while wearing this shadow but, I still chose to add mascara to my look!

The Girl On Fire!!!!!!!

By Terry “Fire Game” Nail Laque

This is a color from Terry’s Fall 2012 line which is not available at retailers just yet but, should be any day now.  I described it to a friend as a “burnt reddish brown neutral” – Terry’s Fall lookbook describes it as a “volcanic, powerful and ardent red like molten rock.”  Which description do you prefer?? Haha.

This is not a color I would normally pick for myself but, once I saw it on my toes I realized it’s the most perfect every day color for Fall/Winter.  I know it will be my go-to for the next several months.  I’ve never used a By Terry polish before and I have to say, true to form, it is pretty spectacular.  The color is ultra rich and doesn’t streak at all, it’s super shiny and glossy, and adheres to nails perfectly seriously, my toes look like they’re gel.  I just LOVE this color & promise you will too.

Special thanks to my friends at By Terry for sending this treat my way!  I received it yesterday and went straight to my salon for a pedicure!

Here are a couple shots of the polish on my toes:

Part II

Part II

Cle de Peau Extra Rich Lipstick T10

Ok, this guy is one smooth operator.  This is a sheer lipstick that goes on like a balm, looks like a gloss, and wears/stays like a lipstick.  It is extremely moisturizing and stays that way - no matter how long.  I’m hooked and this is coming from someone who isn’t and never has been a lipstick fan.  The amount of pigment & sheen is absolutely perfect.  My lips looked plump, hydrated and the most perfect shade of light berry pink.  It’s like my natural lip color but better!  Honestly, one of the best lipsticks I’ve ever tried!

For a more intense look, you can dust a bit of translucent finishing powder over the lip and then apply a gloss on top.

Cle de Peau Intensifying Cream Eyeliner #103

I love this charcoal liner.  It is water resistant and the formula is so easy to apply with the convenient brush.  If you prefer a more imperfect look, the liner can easily be smudged or blended but, it’s also just as easy to create the most precise cat eye.  The pencil is soft and smooth and the charcoal shade is ideal for day or night.

Your Fall look (& mine!) by Cle de Peau – Part I

All of the products mentioned below are available at Nordstrom in Green Hills.  See my friend, Sara Stewart, at the Cle de Peau counter to customize your own fall look or just copy mine!  If you really want to treat yourself, book a facial massage & treatment first (ask for Michelle Morgan) in Nordstrom’s fabulous spa room (who knew??) to stimulate blood flow, hydrate, plump and revitalize tired, lackluster skin.  It will make your makeup application 100 times better!  I had a treatment yesterday and I’m still glowing this morning (more on this later as well).

Stay tuned later this week for the products used in Part II of my fall look from Cle & for more information on Cle de Peau’s incredible skin care products and Shiseido too!!

Silky Cream Foundation B30

This will without a doubt be my fall/winter foundation.  I was blown away by the staying power this product had and how luminous and dewy it made my skin look.  This is a full coverage product with a super lightweight texture.  You end up completely covered feeling like your skin is fresh and naked.  The tiniest drop covers your whole face and neck and it’s best applied with my favorite Shiseido foundation brush.

Face Enhancer Luminizing Powder

A highlighting powder that uses light diffusing technology to illuminate, add radiance and add light/depth to your complexion.  I love how even though this powder has shimmer it distributes so perfectly and evenly over your face so that you never see a stray piece of glitter like substance or feel like you’re in over the top sparkle.  It’s really just a perfect finishing touch to the silky cream foundation.  It didn’t settle into my pores and looked just as lovely at 7 pm as it did at 2 pm when it was applied.  I feel like it actually helped keep me shine free (of course the foundation did too).

Eye Color Quad #208

This silky quad of wearable neutrals is just perfect for Fall.  The shadow formula makes contouring a cinch and all the shadows are resistant to smudging, fading, and creasing.  Brown based, toned down smoky eyes are major for this season and this quad is the ideal product to flawlessly achieve that look!

The Mascara

This mascara is essentially false lashes in a tube.  It’s amazing!!  My lashes have NEVER looked so curled, long and luscious.  The color is an inky, glossy black that really makes lashes pop.  Talk about dramatic impact!!  Disclaimer: It is near impossible to get this mascara off.  I was warned and now I’m warning you.  It was recommended that I use olive oil to remove it – I tried this and still had a tough time.  It isn’t rough on the lashes though… mine weren’t coming off on the cotton pad or flaking onto my face… the formula just is really, really water proof.  So, cry me a river!

I’m buying a tube and using it for special occasions – you know, the type of events when you look forward to coming home & saturating a cotton ball in olive oil to get your eye makeup off.  LOL.

Still, I’ll  take this over waking up with night-before false lashes stuck to my forehead any day.
