Facial Oil

Bobbi Brown Extra Face Oil

I was reading a very interesting article in the September issue of ELLE last night and it reminded me of this fabulous product I’ve neglected in my blog.  The article discussed how sometimes all these new age products (Clarisonic brushes), micro-derm, glycolic peels and overzealous skin care routines can actually cause your skin to (in ELLE’s very accurate words) “revolt”. The answer, or so this author claims, is to keep it simple with a gentle facial oil.  This does seem weird and especially to those with oily skin (me) but, there is a lot of truth to it.  I had a horrible reaction to a glycolic last year (my boss told me I looked like a Christmas ornament) – my face was so raw, red, and shiny that actually I should be commended for even showing up to work in that condition.  Bobbi’s Extra oil was my saving grace.

The oil is considered and emollient and it’s packed with healing vitamin E.  It has a really nice smell – kind of therapeutic, so it’s nice to put it on before bed because it kind of seems like aroma therapy.  It’s not greasy at all and it absorbs immediately.  Sometimes my night time retinol routine can make me a little flakey – this is an immediate fix.  It is perfect for cooler Fall/Winter months when we all tend to be a little drier.

  1. Do you use the oil on top of the retinol or alternate nights you use them?
